What happened to my cassette?
Hey folks,
Looking for help removing my cassette.
Story: I have a winter mtb beater built entirely from cheap Chinese parts, and for drivetrain it’s rocking sram eagle knockoffs w/ a 1x12spd cassette. While taking off in low gear yesterday, my pedals suddenly chunk and then the cassette starts slipping over splines all ugly. It’s got about an inch of grime on it so I assume the outer gears of the cassette have somehow come loose and coast home to investigate.
After I pull my through axel wheel, nothing falls off, but to my surprise there are no splines left anywhere on the cassette, the lower/outer gears are all finger loose to the touch and with only a touch of real effort are able to skip hub splines, but somehow the lower gear assembly is still stuck attached to the hub.
Problem: how do I get this piece of garbage off so I can replace it (or my hub ant this point) and get back on the road!
