I am trying to remove the bottom bracket on a specialized sirrus, it’s a hollowtech BSA bottom bracket with a 16 notch (not anymore…) 44mm threaded bracket. I started by using a bottom bracket wrench, like this https://amzn.eu/d/3tRiUMS but it wasn’t giving any budget. I realised that someone painted over the bracket, so the seal was underneath paint, so i chipped that off. Used the bb wrench again and with a steel pole to give some leverage. It budged a little bit then the notchs become stripped. Then decided to use a big 12 inch pipe wrench, but I’m not getting the grip I need….
So two questions – am i even doing this right?? I think im going crazy. I’ve tried both sides but mainly the non drive side because I’ve read that’s the easiest & I’m turning it anti clockwise.
Second question – better tool for the job? Possible a mole wrench? The notches on this thing are getting more and more stripper so I think the bottom bracket wrench is sorta obsolete for me now.
Any advice appreciated!!
(P.S I’m removing the bottom bracket to add a mid drive motor if you were wondering.)
