  1. I love Lotus cars, so if I was in East Anglia, I'd do the factory tour of their HQ near Norwich! Not surprised to see flooding after the storm we had recently, it's flat around there, and some parts like Fens are marsh land below sea level. Loving your content.

  2. You certainly find very interesting places to visit. I'm really enjoying your trips in a part of the UK I've never been and appreciate you being adventurous with your food choices. Personally I would probably not drink unpasteurised milk or dairy products! I was brought up in a dairy cow area in SW Scotland and a local vet. tragically died a long time ago now.

  3. There's a Coastliner double decker bus which runs from Leeds up through York and all the way to Whitby – I live in Whitby so usually get the bus down to York it takes 2 hours through gorgeous countryside 😄 (3 hours to Leeds)

  4. Jess, when it says "Free House" on a pub sign, it doesn't mean all the drinks inside are free – unfortunately. Many pubs are "tied" houses and that means they sell beer from one brewer – whether that be a national or local area brewer. A "Free House" is a pub that's not tied to any particular brewery and sells beers sourced from anywhere.

  5. I'm so glad you guys are getting to enjoy the surrounding area in which you're currently living. If you get time, you should drive down to Saffron Walden, I think it's the type of town you'd really enjoy.
    Great video, Jess. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

  6. We got taken to Castle Rising all the time when in school and I remember having fun there. I imagine Norwich castle is the one that's in the best nick though. Lots of ruined castles in Norfolk (and priories for that matter). Weather's been rubbish this year but if it improves, get out on the Broads if possible for a lovely, peaceful time (outside of the main towns like Wroxham) in nature. I also still have a fondness for the special quality of light you get in the Fens in winter – always used to go when the floods were out.

  7. Snug bar was usually set at the back of the pub where the men would go to drink whilst the women would relax in the lounge bar which was usually bigger and more comfortable

  8. I’ve been down that way on & off for the last few months the roads are atrocious repair wise!!
Lovely countryside but all a little flat for a Welshman 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
    Keep enjoying our country 👍

  9. Funny seeing you guys drive through the town that I go through every day on my way to work.
Have you tried Framlingham Castle and the town? Much more impressive, not too far away, and WELL worth a visit!

  10. In the traditional public houses there used to be three bar rooms
    1. The main bar room, where the locals met and drank together
    2. The Lounge bar where the land owners and men of worth would probably drink classier drinks
    3. The Snug bar as far as I could tell was where the village fathers (the old guys of the village) used to gather and chat and also maybe some of the wives would come and have a safe drink with their husbands
All this will differ depending where you are in the country, the size of the Pub and whose telling the tale.
    Cheers

  11. If you have raw milk, it was probably fool fat milk (the cream wasn’t skimmed off). This gives you the chance to make clotted cream. Clotted cream basically is where you separate the milk from the cream by warming the whole milk in a dish or some other wide pot to bellow boiling and simmer (keep the heat even all night and in the morning the cream will be floating on the top. There are quite a number of vid on YouTube describing how to make clotted cream. Make some scones and slice in half and spread on the cream and a nice jam, it’s the base for a Devon or Cornish cream tea. Delicious honestly

  12. Jess…”Chris are you on the wrong side of the road”
    Chris…” ummmm , think so “
Driving off, calmly, oh well 😂
Fair play to Chris, a now natural veteran of navigating a small English village and adapting to the drive safe and just work it out as you go that’s unique to the British and Irish roads. Par exultance and now totally assimilated to our roads 🤗

  13. south east norfolk and north east suffolk wetlands inland waterways and they are known as the broads and they are man made they were made beetween the 11th and 15th centuries when peat was dug out the ground for fuel to heat homes and for cooking food for the city of norwich

  14. You're in a Mini !! Have you seen the film 'The Italian Job' ? An iconic '60's British film well worth a watch, always on TV every Xmas. Three Mini Coopers are getaway vehicles for a gold robbery.

  15. Why is there an epedemic of Anerican videos appearing on You tube?
I am increasingly becoming aware of how ignorant Americans are on every subject!
What do they teach in their schools?

  16. Believe it or not, despite our rainy rep, there is more average rainfall in NY,Rome and Milan than London.
We have the exact right amount of sun and rain across the whole year, and that’s why our countryside is SO green and has SO many trees.

  17. Norfolk is not really "castle country" – it doesn't have suitable building materials – that kind of stone would have to be imported from other regions of England.
East Anglia is perhaps the "least castellated" area of Britain.
There is one exception – Oxburgh castle – which is near King's Lynn.

  18. shame you haven’t seen the real beautiful villages of England yet . Those in your video are nothing special I recommend the cotswolds, Kent and cornwall for the most amazing English villages Enjoy oh and the lake district too

  19. You both seem like you are easing your way into English life nicely. And given you aren't at all used to it, you are doing amazingly well driving on the left side of the road. Jess, a snug bar is simply a normal bar. Raw milk, nice. It is the nicest milk you can buy, but it isn't too generally available now in Britain.

  20. I think you mentioned the pink colour of a building. It was traditional in the medieval period in Suffolk to plaster the timber framing and then paint the plaster pink. This colour is known as Suffolk Pink. Many old buildings are still painted this colour in the county.
