Managed to purchase the last MAAP Eclipse Prime Jacket from the black friday sale. With the extra 20% sale item promo, I was able to get this at roughly $160 (without shipping) coming out to nearly 50% off. Always worn a hoodie or a light jacket out when it got chilly but often found it a little annoying when I couldn’t figure out how to stow them away for the remainder of the ride. Also planning to do more riding this winter (doesn’t snow where I’m from) so definitely glad I stumbled on this. Ignore the creases and wrinkles I just took it out from its package a few hours ago LOL.
Out the box it exceeded my expectations. The jacket looks unique in my opinion and doesn’t stray away from the minimalistic design which was exactly what I was looking for. There are a lot of subtle details and designs which make this jacket even more special. Quality is definitely there in my opinion although I can’t do a proper comparison since this is my first cycling jacket. The fit is great just like the rest of my MAAP products. For reference, I’m about 5’5 and always went XS in their jerseys. I went with the same size here and it fit as expected. If anything, only very slightly tight around the chest but nonexistent when in a riding/aero position.
I believe there is still a lot of items on sale including their regular Prime Jackets. Definitely worth to take a look if you’re looking for any missing gear to complete your kit. Obviously, I haven’t gotten the opportunity to test the jacket out yet and this is also my first dedicated cycling jacket so I am in no position to give a proper review/recommendation. However, based on my own impressions I can say I am happy about my purchase so far. I might make an update after a few rides in the comments. If you own a prime jacket feel free to leave some of your thoughts on it which maybe helpful for others. Have an amazing weekend everyone!
